Breastfeeding 101 New Dads TroubleshootResources Evaluate this Site

The mother of your infant will breastfeed longer if you support her.

Why do I want my partner to breastfeed longer?

Why will my support help my partner breastfeeding longer?

The purpose of this site is to replace the perception of the breastfeeding dyad (mother & baby) with the breastfeeding triad:

To do this, the following site attempts to enable you, as a father, to become a coach and support source for your breastfeeding partner.

The pages within this site cover several different areas:

  • Basic information about breastfeeding mechanics and benefits
  • Tips and advice about how to make the most of your role as a father
  • Real time help for some of the most common breastfeeding problems encountered within an infant's first months of life
  • Links to and information about local and national breastfeeding resources

This site is meant to be used during several different periods:

  • Before your baby arrives, so you can learn about how to prepare and what to expect
  • After your baby is born, during a breastfeeding problem (if any should occur), as a resource with which you can help your breastfeeding partner overcome her difficulties
  • Anytime you are interested in learning more about fatherhood, infant feeding habits or your partner's experience as a breastfeeding mother
